We met at the peak of the COVID-19 lockdown in the summer of 2020. Bri, who grew up in Dallas, had moved to Houston to spend a summer working as a chemical engineering intern. After both being encouraged to join a dating app by friends, we separately agreed to try it for a day. We found each other on that day. We started talking and made plans to hang out on weekends when Andrew wasn’t working as a lifeguard. Despite the limited activities available that summer, we quickly learned how to have fun together no matter what we were doing. That summer we became best friends, and the rest is history.
As the summer came to a close, we returned to school: Bri at The University of Tulsa and Andrew at Texas A&M University. That’s when we decided we wanted to continue our relationship and give long distance a try. During this first year, both of our schools were holding classes virtually, which made it easier to spend extended time together in College Station or Tulsa. We got to know each other’s friends and continued to grow closer every day.
Bri graduated from The University of Tulsa in May 2022 and shortly after moved to Houston for a job as a chemical engineer. That year, we were closer than ever distance-wise, and Bri was able to visit Texas A&M often. She even got to attend many football games and experience true SEC school spirit. While living in Houston, Bri also had the chance to get to know Andrew’s hometown and spend time with his family.
Andrew graduated from Texas A&M in May 2023 and right after we set off on a six-week trip to Europe, visiting Spain, Switzerland, Italy, and Greece. From hiking the Swiss Alps and island-hopping in Greece to enjoying our favorite foods in Italy, we made memories everywhere we went. Aside from being the best months of our lives, that summer was a turning point for us because we realized how closely our values and visions for the future aligned. Our favorite place was definitely the dramatic landscapes of Switzerland and one of our most unforgettable adventures was tackling the Via Ferrata in Mürren, walking along cliffs with breathtaking views.
After our return from Europe, Andrew moved to Dallas to work as an analyst. During that year, we both studied and took the LSAT, and applied to law school. We spent many days playing in pickleball leagues, walking the Katy Trail, and discovering new restaurants in Uptown Dallas. It was nice for Andrew to experience life in Dallas and be close to Bri’s family.
After another summer in Europe, visiting nine new countries and thirteen new cities, we started law school together in August 2024 at Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida. We have loved our time in law school and thrived in all the new opportunities it has offered. Making amazing new friends and living just a mile from the beach has made moving to Florida even better. We have had one class together each semester and while we may not be the most compatible study partners, we love seeing each other on campus every day. Having each other for support and comfort has made the rigorous demands of law school so much more manageable and a lot more fun.
Andrew planned an engagement trip to the French Riviera after our law school finals in May 2025. On the day of the proposal, we took a morning boat tour along the southern coast of France, visiting different towns. The boat captain pointed out several sights (including the spot where Andrew planned to propose that day), and we ended the boat ride with a swim at a stunning swimming spot. Andrew proposed on a hiking path at sunset at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, with the rocky coast as the breathtaking backdrop. It was absolutely perfect. We spent the following week exploring Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Monaco, and other towns, and we even spent a day seeing the major sights of London on our way back to the States. Once home, we celebrated with both of our families in Dallas.
And that’s our story! We feel truly blessed that the Lord has guided our relationship every step of the way, and we are honored to be stepping into this new chapter together. We are deeply grateful for the love and support of our family and friends who have been part of our journey. We cannot wait to celebrate with all of you!
Xoxo,
Bri and Andrew
